VPC-less variation of RDS

Hi friends, Is there a variation of rds that does not require a vpc?

thanks for confirming, for some reason i thought aurora serverless was that but it turns out you need a vpc

I think it still requires a network interface in your selected vpc

if it isn’t running in your VPC, it would have to be publicly accessible or run in a VPC somehow peered to you or expose itself as a VPC private gateway link, all of which are expensive and/or dangerous.
